Circulation
Policies
Borrowing Regulations: In light of the
Library's membership in PALSPlus, there are certain circulation
policies that needed to be articulated in greater detail. All
circulation policies, including information on Open Borrowing,
the PALSPlus online library catalog - which includes a Member
Account section - as well as policies regarding this library's
NEW books shall be clearly set forth at this page within a very
short time. (A paper copy of the policies will be available at
the front desk at the same time.)

Computer/Internet
Policy
Usage Procedures:
· Children under 18 must have parental consent to use the
computers - which are NOT filtered.
· Children under the
age of 7 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while using
the computers.
· Check in and out
at circulation desk before and after use.
· Printing is available
at from all workstations and the charge for printing is $0.10
per page for black and white copies, and $0.40 per page for color
copies. (Please ask a staff member if you need a color print.)
Print-outs can be picked up at the circulation desk.
· Computer disks can
be purchased at the front desk for $1.00 each.
Computer users are expected to be familiar with software applications.
Staff members cannot provide individual attention at this time.
· There is a 20-minute
maximum time limit on computer usage, within a two-hour period.
Should there be available computers, that policy may be relaxed
at certain times.
· Please do not shut
computers down on your own.
· Wireless access -
patrons are able to use their wireless devices in the library
with the understanding that no printing services are available
for wireless users. In addition, all policies applicable to patrons
using the library's computers, are equally applicable to wireless
users (see Computer/Internet Policy Disclaimer section).

Computer/Internet
Policy Disclaimer:
· Restriction of a child's
access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
· Parents/Guardians
will be held responsible if their child violates the computer
policy.
· The library does
not monitor, nor does it have control over, the information found
through the Internet and is not responsible for its content, timeliness,
or accuracy.
· Neither the Caldwell
Public Library Board of Trustees, nor the library staff, nor the
Borough of Caldwell is liable for any negative consequences that
may occur as a result of using the library's Internet access.
The library is not responsible for damage to a patron's disk or
personal computer, or for any loss of data, damage or liability
that may occur from use of the library's computers.
· Viewing of certain
materials in the public library may be considered improper in
time, place or manner. Staff reserves the right to end any Internet
session that we feel is inappropriate for you or any other patron
within the public environment.

ReBL
Cards
· The term ReBL is an acronym for
Reciprocal Borrowing and Lending. With a ReBL card, patrons can
borrow materials not only from their own home library, but also
from any of Essex County's 25 participating libraries. Participating
libraries, as of September 6, 2005, are: Belleville Public Library,
Bloomfield College Library, Bloomfield Public Library, Caldwell
College Library, Caldwell Public Library, Cedar Grove Public Library,
East Orange Public Library, Essex County College Library, Fairfield
Public Library, Glen Ridge Public Library, Irvington Public Library,
Katharine Gibbs Library, Livingston Public Library, Maplewood
Memorial Library, Millburn Public Library, Montclair Public Library,
Newark Public Library, Nutley Public Library, Orange Public Library,
Roseland Public Library, Rutgers-Newark - Dana Library, Seton
Hall University Library, South Orange Public Library, Verona Public
Library and the West Orange Public Library.
· ReBL cards are available
to Caldwell Library members -- who reside in Caldwell -- free
of charge. ReBL cards are good for
a calendar year, and must be renewed annually. (See a staff member
at the adult circulation desk.)
