We will be forever grateful to The Wayside Inn, The Goodnow Library and our many friends in Sudbury who made Caldwell's Big Read of Longfellow Finale/Scout Jamboree a week-end we will never forget!

As promised - from our FINALE of The Big Read last weekend - as Sudbury and Caldwell connected for a final picture. Thank you Scouts, for sharing our vision from day one of how we could make it The HUGE Read!

Wow! If you missed the 55 Talented Teens from JCHS, under the directorship of Elsie Timpson, singing "Snow-Flakes" with The Longfellow Chorus you missed a MAJOR musical event! Thank you to all our performers, from Portland and the Caldwells.

3/4 & 11 ~ Poet Carrie Howson clearly went ABOVE and BEYOND, and then some, as she shared stories of The Saturday Club of Boston with us. (I felt as if I were in grad school! Wow!)
March 2nd ~ John & Gabriella return to kick off "Local Poets Take on Longfellow!" (And, we STILL have birthday cookies, so see you at 6:30 p.m.)

Join us Sat., Feb. 27th @ 3 p.m. as we KICK OFF The Big Read of the Poetry of Longfellow. Please join in celebrating Henry's 203d birthday in a MAJOR way! Thanks to the National Endowment for the Arts, let us now be "up and doing" and let the fun begin!

August 13, 2009 ~ JCHS teacher/coach Bridgit Martin joined our "knitting/crocheting circle" before sending our quilts off to South Dakota.

June 11, 2009 - We celebrated our wrapping up of The Big Read of "The Shawl" as we shared our crayons and blankets with others in need. Thank you!

June 11, 2009 ~ Troop 6 Scoutmaster Bill Downey celebrates along with The Crayon Project creator, Flora Frank, the collection of 15,013 crayons (and still counting!), as readers of all ages found a way to be part of The Big Read of "The Shawl."

March 1, 2009 ~ Silent reading, silent listening, contemplation, changing ourselves, changing a community. Thank you NEA and Cynthia Ozick, for The Big Read of "The Shawl."

3/3/09 ~ Published Poet, and Caldwell College English Professor, Dr. Maxine Susman, shared her poetry and then conducted a workshop as part of The Big Read of Cynthia Ozick's "The Shawl." Thank you Dr. Susman and once again, thank you Caldwell College!

February 2009 ~ Shiri Sandler, from the Museum of Jewish Heritage, her grandma, Gisela Adamski, a survivor of the Holocaust and Eliane Sandler, an educator who is Gisela's daughter & Shiri's mother, spoke to high school students as part of The Big Read.

February 26, 2009 ~ The Caldwell Public Library Board of Trustees welcomed WCPL Board of Trustees President, Marilyn Rubino, and WCPL Director April Judge to join in on pre-kick off of The Big Read of Cynthia Ozick's "The Shawl."

February & March 2009 ~ The Lumen Center, Mount Saint Dominic Academy, Marian Manor and the Caldwell Public Library communities gathered to share The Big Read of Cynthia Ozick's "The Shawl."

March 2009 ~ The "K1 P2" team, led by Lila Kurzum, started knitting in the summer of 2008, in anticipation of "The Big Read" of "The Shawl" ~ join us on Thursday nights at 6:15 p.m. to knit and crochet, with a purpose and get ready to have FUN!

Spring 2009 ~ Thank you to all our community partners ~ including the members of the West Essex Ministerial Association ~ for making The Big Read of "The Shawl" the unforgettable experience it was for our community.

Fall 2007 ~ The Caldwell/West Caldwell Board of Education proclaims October 2007 as Caldwell Public Library Month in honor of The Big Read of Edith Wharton's "The Age of Innocence."

First Sunday in October 2007 ~ Local children enjoy Caldwell Public Library's booth (& buggy!) at Caldwell's annual Street Fair as the Library celebrated The Big Read of "The Age of Innocence."
