Membership

Join the Caldwell Public Library:

Caldwell Residents

​

A Caldwell Library card is free to all Caldwell residents. Patrons under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present when registering for a card.

​

To get a library card, please bring proof of residency and photo ID to the library. A driver’s license is the most common form of ID used. If you do not have a driver’s license, the following are acceptable forms of ID:

​

School ID, work ID, state ID or passport

​

AND

​

Official piece of mail with Caldwell address on it, such as a rental agreement, bank statement, utility statement or pay stub

Out of Town Residents
​

Residents of other towns may purchase a membership at the Caldwell Public Library.

​

Out of Town Standard Membership: $100 per year

  • Check out any item from the Caldwell Library

  • Request fulfillment through JerseyCat

  • Access to downloadable materials through OverDrive/Libby, Kanopy, Hoopla, NewsBank/Digital Star Ledger, and digital NY Times

  • 50% reimbursement for Essex Fells and North Caldwell residents (not to exceed $75/household)

  • Provides two (2) cards for people of the same household; $25 for additional cards

Out of Town Plus Membership: $150 per year:

  • Check out any item from the Caldwell Library

  • Request fulfillment through JerseyCat

  • Access to downloadable materials through OverDrive/Libby, Kanopy, Hoopla, NewsBank/Digital Star Ledger, and digital NY Times

  • ReBL walk-in services to Essex County libraries

  • 50% reimbursement for Essex Fells and North Caldwell residents (not to exceed $75/household)

  • Provides two (2) cards for people of the same household; $25 for additional cards

A $3 credit card processing fee will be added if paying by credit card.

Payment by cash or check remains an option.

Courtesy Cards
​

Caldwell business owners and their employees may receive a courtesy card with proof of employment. Enjoy the same privileges as the Out of Town Standard Membership for free.

West Caldwell Students

​

West Caldwell students (K-12th grade) can receive an annual Courtesy Card at no charge. Parents need to be present when registering for a card and bring their photo ID with address. 

​

Caldwell University Students

​

Non-Caldwell resident students are eligible for a Courtesy Card. Please bring your student ID and proof of address. Caldwell University Students who live off campus within the Borough of Caldwell are eligible for a resident's card.

ReBL Borrowing

Caldwell resident cardholders and

Out of Town paid cardholders with ReBL access can walk in and  borrow from any of these Essex County Libraries.
